Commencement Of Main Works
We will be starting excavation and infilling works in the north east corner of the site and working across the site in grids.
A plan which sets out the sequence of development is included within the ‘Technical Document’ section of this website.
We will be commencing with grid A1 followed by grid A2, then grid B1 and B2.
During the course of excavating the cells, we will encounter waste which will have odours of varying intensity. We would assure readers that these odours – whilst noticeable, will not cause a risk of harm to residents.
We have sophisticated air quality monitoring equipment installed around the
boundaries of the site which is designed to safeguard the health of residents and ensure that the works are completed in a controlled manner.
Any odour will be under continuous review by the on-site Environmental Consultant (RSK) and the Council in accordance with the provisions for odour set out within the Air Quality Monitoring Protocol.
At certain times of the works, we may decide to use an odour suppressant which will mask certain odours, but this may mean residents could experience
a sweet smell such as strawberries or eucalyptus from time to time.
There are other things which residents may notice and have questions on and these are set out below.
• Under the terms of the planning permission, no lorries carrying waste or fill material are able to enter or leave the site before 0900 or after 1700 on Monday to Friday, or before 0900 and after 1300 on Saturdays.
• All lorries leaving the site will be sealed, will pass through a wheelwash and will then be allowed to leave only after being checked by our vehicle checker. Residents may notice some residual water coming from the lorries being left on the highway, however this is normal and is leftover from the cleaning process.
